Perception

No more beauty today than yesterday.
The waves still seek the sand.
A scented blossom blooms and dies.
The rise and fall of day upon the land
Remains unchanged.

No more bedlam today than yesterday.
The streets still fill with frenzied crowds.
A child falls and seeks attention.
The creatures of the land do hunt and run
In places remote and unseen.

Two lovers kiss.
The barters hiss.
A cloud slips past the moon.

A baby sleeps.
The widow weeps.
A bard chants to a tune.

No more alive today than yesterday.
Her heart still beats in time.
A breath drawn in and then released.
A stroll through oak and pine
But something has changed.

No more a soul does she possess.
No difference can she see.
She only knows that on this day
Tis happiness she perceives.

Her step is light
A song takes flight.
She smiles to herself.

His hand she takes.
And dares not wake
From this a day of dreams.
